El Niño Could Suppress 2026 Hurricane Activity, NOAA Predicts

According to the forecast provided by the NOAA on the hurricane season, there will be less hurricane activity in the Atlantic Ocean during the 2026 hurricane season. According to the forecast, the chances of having fewer hurricane activities during this period stand at 55%. This will be mainly due to the emergence of the El Niño cycle that creates strong wind to disintegrate any emerging storm. Despite the warm temperatures in the ocean that usually trigger hurricanes, eight to fourteen storms are expected to form.
